Cleveland Gladiators Press Release

The Cleveland Gladiators have been assigned veteran defensive back Fred Shaw, the League office announced today.

Shaw, who has logged 27 interceptions over the past five seasons, was let go by the Orlando Predators earlier this week. Shaw (6-2, 220, Central Oklahoma) enters his sixth season in the AFL. A Second Team All-Arena selection with the San Antonio Talons in 2013, Shaw has scored five touchdowns on interception returns in his career to go along with 328.5 tackles, six forced fumbles, and 45 pass breakups.

Shaw spent three seasons with the Talons before they announced they would take 2015 off. He joined the Predators in free agency last October. Shaw’s finest season to date came in 2013 when he was named a Second-Team All-Arena performer after posting 11 interceptions and 16 pass breakups. Prior to joining San Antonio, he delivered six interceptions for the Tulsa Talons in 2011.

Shaw entered the Arena Football League as a rookie in 2010 with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.
