SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose SaberCats have added veteran wide receiver D.J. Stephens, the League office announced today.

Stephens (5-11, 180, Arkansas-Monticello) enters his fourth season in the AFL after spending his first three years in the League with the San Antonio Talons. After seeing action in one game as a rookie with the Talons in 2012, Stephens caught 55 passes for 738 yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with 30 kick returns for 650 yards and four scores in 11 games the following season. He started nine games for the Talons in 2014, hauling in 66 passes for 938 yards and 17 touchdowns. For his career, he has logged 121 receptions for 1,676 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Prior to turning pro, Stephens played collegiately at Arkansas-Monticello where he earned First Team All-Great American Conference honors after catching 62 passes for 689 yards and nine touchdowns in 2011. He finished his two-year career at UAM with 90 receptions for 1,213 yards and 12 touchdowns. In addition to his time with the Talons, Stephens was also invited to camp with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts in 2013.
