The New Orleans Voodoo came a long way from their infamous “Trainwreck” the last time they were in Tampa Bay.

They fought much harder this time, but once again, the result was the same. Julius Gregory caught 9 passes for 74 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Tampa Bay Storm rallied and held off the New Orleans Voodoo 35-34 on Saturday night. The difference in the game turned out to be a missed extra point from former kicker of the year Garret Lindholm, whose miss late in the game came back to bite the Voodoo hard.

Once again, Adam Kennedy was out with an injury, and Brain Reader had to step in. Before he even set foot on the field, Larry Beavers returned the opening kickoff 56 yards for a touchdown putting the Voodoo ahead 7-0. The lead sea sawed back and forth in the first half before New Orleans was able to take a 28-21 lead. The Voodoo surpassed their point total from their previous visit to Tampa in one half.

>> Yet despite that, the Storm still turned things around after the intermission. Tampa tied it up at 28 early in the third. and then the Voodoo turned it over at the goal line, which led to Tampa taking the lead two plays later. But New Orleans fought back. Reader found Chris Duvalt late in the 4th to bring New Orleans within a point, but with the chance to tie it, Lindholm botched the extra point. New Orleans did get one last shot, but with the ball at the 15 of the Storm, Reader was picked off by James Harrel, ending the ball game.

New Orleans has lost 4 in a row now and is 1-9 in 10 all time trips to Tampa Bay. The final matchup between the two will be in week 17 in New Orleans. Next up for the Voodoo they are on the road against the 9-1 Philadelphia Soul.
