Tampa Bay Storm Press Release

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired two-time All-Arena jack linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson, announced team vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

“Any time you can acquire a player like Jackson you must take it,” said Gooch.  “He’s a difference maker on defense and is a welcome addition to our team.  We’re happy to have him.”

Jackson (6-foot-1, 200 lbs., Albany State) enters his seventh season in the Arena Football League and his first with the Storm.  He spent the past two seasons with the Jacksonville Sharks, helping lead the team to an appearance in ArenaBowl XXVIII in 2015.  He finished the 2016 season with 55.5 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, two interceptions, three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.

The six-year veteran began his professional career in 2006 with the South Georgia Wildcats (af2).  He would play for several indoor leagues before settling in with the New Orleans VooDoo in 2011, a year he led the team with 89.0 tackles.  Jackson earned his first All-Arena selection in 2012, setting a VooDoo franchise record with 14 interceptions.

Jackson would go on to play for the Pittsburgh Power in 2013, rejoining the VooDoo in 2014, before moving on to the Sharks beginning with the 2015 season.

For his career, Jackson has 400.0 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, 37 interceptions, 27 pass breakups, 13 fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles.
