BILLINGS, MT. — The Billings Outlaws announced it signed three of the league’s top free agents as the team looks to rebound from a 2-3 start.
The Outlaws added veteran wide receiver Darius Prince, defensive back Dwayne Hollis, and offensive lineman Terrence Ames Jr – all who were released from the Corpus Christi Tritons this week amid a dispute with ownership over salary. The league shared a statement that its aware of the situation involving the Tritons and are continuing to be in contact with all the players impacted.
The defending Arena Football League ArenaBowl champions made a series of transactions this week after losing its last three games, two of which were against its rival and ArenaBowl opponent – the Albany Firebirds. Prince previously played with the Firebirds and Hollis was the team’s defensive coordinator but the two exited the organization after the 2024 season.
“Today is a great day in Outlaws team history,” Outlaws owner Steven Titus said in a statement to Arena Insider. “The GOAT [greatest of all time] himself Darius Prince, joins the team to help us make a historic run to compete for the first ever AF1 championship. I’m excited to see what Prince, Hollis and TA can put together to help us get to where we need to be so we are holding up the trophy this summer.”
Prince currently has 23 receptions, 311 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns through his four games with the Tritons. Hollis so far recorded 16 tackles, two interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and five pass deflections.
“Thank you to coach [Cedric] Walker and Mr. Titus for allowing me to be part of a top notch organization. Let’s get to work!” Hollis said in a post on Facebook reacting to the news.
The signings are expected to be a boost for the Outlaws ahead of its upcoming Saturday evening matchup against the 4-3 Southwest Kansas Storm.
