New Jersey tapped as neutral site for Arena Bowl 33

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Arena Football League has picked New Jersey as the site for the upcoming 2024 Arena Bowl.
According to a league release on Thursday, the championship will be held at the American Dream Entertainment and Retail Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey on July 19. It’ll be part of a three day “series of events” beginning on July 18 and ending on July 20.
“We are ecstatic that the Arena Football League has selected American Dream as the host for an exhilarating championship weekend,” Bryan Gaus, Senior Vice President and General Manager of American Dream, said in a statement. “We eagerly anticipate the fast-paced action and high impact play that will be felt throughout the venue, as a new AFL champion is crowned and more dreams become reality at American Dream.”
American Dream, which is the second-largest shopping mall in the United States, is a three-million square foot venue for retail, dining, attractions and entertainment. It’s located about a half hour outside of New York City.
The mall is branching as a sports venue, as the Harlem Globetrotters recently announced it would have a residency there this summer.
“American Dream is the ideal backdrop for showcasing our revived league to the community and sports enthusiasts worldwide, Chris Chetty, AFL chairman, said in a release. “The American Dream not only offers a fantastic setting for our ArenaBowl championship game but also aligns perfectly with our vision of integrating high-energy sports entertainment with family-friendly and community-focused activities.”
The announcement comes as the league is preparing to announce a new broadcast partnership to televise all five playoff games. The first round will begin on July 5.
