Sioux Falls Storm Shuts Down Ahead of 2025 Season
2 min readSIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Sioux Falls Storm announced it will go dormant for the 2025 season after failing to secure an agreement with its home venue.
The team announced the dormancy status on Wednesday, just a day before the league is set to reveal the 2025 schedule. Officials with the Storm say the decision stemmed after the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center declined to offer them a new agreement.
The organization said it was looking to secure another option but was unable to in time for next season.
“We are disappointed by the situation and saddened to step away, even temporarily, from our incredible fans and community,” Amber Garry, Owner and Team President of the Storm, said in a release. Our commitment to Storm Nation remains unwavering, and we look forward to returning stronger than ever for the 2026 season.”
In the meantime, the Storm is holding out hope for the 2026 season but searching for a permanent arena.
“It’s been very frustrating to have watched this play out the way it has the past few years.”, Todd Tryon, IFL Commissioner and former Storm owner, said in the release. “There is too much support and too much history for this team to not be offered a lease. My belief is a solution will be found and we can all witness the comeback story of the Sioux Falls Storm in 2026.”
