Corpus Christi Tritons accused of not paying players, contracting replacement following 100-12 loss to Albany Firebirds
This story has been updated (04/26 – 7:07 p.m.) to reflect an editorial error about Quintavius Workman who did not play in the game, and the league shared a response that it has no comment on the matter.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Tritons organization is accused of not paying its roster and used replacement players during its 88 point loss at home Friday night.
The Tritons lost 100-12 to the Albany Firebirds mostly without its regular roster. The game, which was streamed on EvergreenNOW, displayed some of the players for the Tritons with unassigned and inconsistent numbers including a new quarterback wearing #7 and a different player wearing #5 which is assigned to defensive back Dwayne Hollis.

The game was dedicated as Military/First Responder Appreciation Night so all of the players had “Salute to Service” on the back of their jerseys.
Veteran wide receiver Darius Prince was also not suited up for the game and posted on his Instagram story of him the sidelines with the caption, “When you gotta stand on business.”

The Firebirds posted a graphic of the final score with a few of the original Tritons players commenting underneath.
“Bro y’all can’t believe this s***. Players can’t play for free, if they paid up, this wouldn’t have been the outcome be for real.” said defensive end Robert Fuentes.
League officials shared with Arena Insider that it does not have a comment on the situation at the time. The Tritons have yet to release any details about the situation.
This remains a developing story and more details will be released as it becomes available.
