DELAWARE — The Arena Football League officially named current Nashville Kats owner Jeff Fisher as interim commissioner.

As it was initially reported Monday night by Arena Insider, owners voted unanimously for Fisher alongside G6 Sports Investment Group, LLC which owns the league and current trademarks.

“Months ago when I decided to help return the Nashville Kats and arena football to the music city, I did so because of my affection for Nashville and wanting to give back to the community that has been a blessing to me and my family over the years,” Fisher said in the release. “We are now three weeks into the season and the league needs help and I agreed to help the league. I am honored the owners collectively have confidence in me to lead them.”

With the announcement, the league shared it will be moving forward with 10 teams – Albany Firebirds, Billings Outlaws, Nashville Kats, Orlando Predators, Rapid City Marshals, Salina Liberty, Southwest Kansas Storm, Washington Wolfpack, West Texas Desert Hawks and Wichita Regulators.

The Louisiana Voodoo and Oregon Blackbears are not part of the remaining teams and likely will be ceasing operations alongside the Iowa Rampage, Philadelphia Soul, Georgia Force and the Minnesota Myth.

The league has shared a revised schedule to reflect the changes with more expected to be announced in the coming days.

>> Arena Insider note: Schedules will be updated on each team’s page and on Scorestream.
